Who we are
The Austin Junior High School Choir, based in Decatur, Alabama, is an ensemble of 8th and 9th-grade students dedicated to musical excellence and personal growth. The choir provides students with opportunities to develop their vocal skills, perform a diverse repertoire, and engage with the broader musical community. Through such achievements, the choir continues to uphold a tradition of artistic excellence and community engagement.
Mr. Josue Guzman is the choir director at Austin Junior High School. Originally from Douglasville, GA, Josue is a graduate in Choral Music Education from Jacksonville State University. He is a two-time Carnegie Hall performer. At JSU, Josue served as bass section leader for the JSU Acappella Choir and Chamber Singers. He also was a member of the Jacksonville Opera Theatre and Marching Southerners. Josue is an active performer for the Huntsville Symphonic Chorus and Chamber Chorale. Mr. Guzman is also currently the Director of Worship at Decatur First United Methodist Church.
